We were sitting out on the porch. Sigmund, the girls and I counting fireflies. Life is so full of sadness and beauty all at the same time. It reminded me of when I was a girl like Olivia is now.. I used to love to run into the dark to try and catch the fireflies. I was, unfortunately, good at catching them and they always ended up in a mason jar. I want to think that I released them but I'm sure there were a few that never shined again because of me. I have received sad news about a friend today. I so wish that nothing sad would ever happen again. I wish life was always as perfect as the four of us sitting on the porch watching those fireflies shine... but someone or something seems to always come along and cram you in a jar. Mess up the peace and the joy.... but our peace and joy comes not from external things but from the spirit of Christ inside us...... I just need to pray. I just need to remember that everything under the sun has a purpose and a time. I'm sure this doesn't make as much sense to you as it should as I am leaving out so many details... but I have a feeling, you know where I'm coming from. God is good. I know He is Good. He is in control and can do what He says He can do.
God is Good. Jam 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. (KJV+)

The Christian organization I work for and our church had our joy attacked through some tragedy the last month as well.
Romans 16 was taught last week and the simple verse that stuck out to many of us was: Romans 16:20 "The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus will be with you" (NIV) Simple but powerful when grief pushes in. Praying, Carla 1 report abuse

Hi Cindy,
We do understand what you are saying, and I will continue to pray for your friend. The bible states that God does not allow anything to happen to us that he knows we can not handle. The verse I love so much is Rom 8:28, "and we know that in all things God works for the good of those that love him, who have been called according to his purpose..." 2 report abuse
