I have decided that for a while I want to begin and end these journal entries with this statement. Maybe because sometimes we feel the truth of this statement in it’s fullness and it overflows out of our fingertips. Other times, we don’t feel it at all and just need to remember it.

I am so glad you are here and have taken an interest in what’s going on in my life and the music that owns such a large part of my heart. Thank you.

As some of you may know, I’m not a new comer to music. I did my first record years ago for Word records in the dance music days- Those records ( Real Life, A Reason to Live, and Under the Waterfall) were produced by my good friend Mark Hammond who taught me so much about singing and being a good human being (as he is one of the best human beings I know). Then my next 3 records were produced by Brent Bourgeious (Listen, Loving Kind, and Elementary), Brent taught me more than I could ever write here but the biggest thing was trusting my instincts and being true to the voice that God has placed inside. I miss him so much and loved making records with him...I’m not sure if I would still be making records if not for him. Thank you Brent.

After doing Elementary, I decided to take a break for touring and recording and grow myself as a songwriter. I wrote for a lot of other artists and wanted to branch outside of Christian music so I moved to LA with my husband and 1 yr old daughter in tow and learned much about writing from so many great people in that sunny and crazy place. But alas the southern bells rang in my ears and songs burned in my heart and I came back to do another record with Provident on Reunion records with someone who I would most definitely qualify to be the president of his fan club... Wayne Kirkpatrick. This record was Postcards.

So here I am in the studio and I find myself in an unusual position... something I have felt I needed and wanted to do for a while. To produce my own record. Can you say scary? Not without a great deal of help and guidance on many fronts from my friend, engineer and co-producer Stephen Leiweke.

So we have set off and have been cruising along working on this record. I am being very slow and deliberate as I am wanting to make sure that the sounds in my head and feelings in my heart all make it successfully and cohesively on tape. I am having so much fun. I must say, I could never have attempted to do this without what I have learned and absorbed all these years from Mark, Brent and Wayne.

This record is a mixture of all the things about music that I love the most. I admire country songwriters so much because I believe them to be the most gifted poets on the planet... story songs, getting lost in a scene... I love it. This is the major approach for the lyrics on the record. Musically my main instruments is still piano but I have started writing on guitar and dulcimer. I am playing a little of those on the record as well.

Basically, I am making a club sandwich of pop, symphonic, with bluegrass overtones with a little tent revival thrown in here and there and I can’t remember having more fun making music. Pray for me that it all makes sense in the end.

So that’s what I’m up to on the music side.

I look forward to sharing bits of songs with you soon. Check it out and thanks ahead of time for taking the time to give it a listen. Blessings on you wherever you are and whatever you’re doing.

God is Good.

Cindy

Hi Cindy,
I love love love your music, your style, your heart. I introduced your music ("Listen") to my best friend when it came out - and he loved it so much (his first introduction to Christian music)....that I felt that it was OK to marry him, since he had such great taste! smilies/grin.gif Anyhoo...I've always felt a kindred spirit with you, and have always told my husband that if you and I were next door neighbors, we'd be best friends! smilies/smiley.gif Maybe in Heaven... So thanks for your music, and for directing your listeners to see Jesus. Absolutely can't wait for your new CD! Blessings, m. smilies/cheesy.gif

I was thinking about the Loving Kind cd this week, as it to me, is one of the most powerful cds ever. It made me look you up as I haven't heard any mjusic from you in a while so I found your site and what a great thing it is to see your still here. I have been struggling so much in my walk with God and think maybe I need to listen to Cindy Morgans Loving Kind cd again it seems to get through what nothing else can. I'm afraid of what I am finding out about myself and very confused so if your pray for your fans I would appreciate some.

I'm so excited that we can see the light at the end of the tunnel of all your soul seeking and hard work. I appreciate the fact that you have been diligent and careful in your creation. It is so easy for us musicians to rush ahead in the excitement of our dreams and ideas. I know the Lord will honor you for this and for seeking Him in all your endeavors. I can't wait to hear and see the finished product.

Hello Cindy!
I should say I'm one of your biggest fans, but I think everybody says that. smilies/wink.gif
I just want to say, that your words in your music has brought such a realness in about this life that most songwriters can't even grasp. Especially on a spiritual level! And I just love that about you! God has given you a great gift! Thank you for sharing it with us all!

I am SO excited to hear that a new album is in the works. I have been a huge fan of yours ever since the first time I saw the "How Could I Ask for More?" video back in 1995 (or so). I saw you in concert one time on your Loving Kind tour and you even took the time out to meet some fans. I remember how kind you were to me, and I still cherish the picture I have of us together. Your music has touched my life over and over again, and I am looking forward another album, which will enrich my life yet again, I have no doubt. Have no fear, God is in your music, and as long as you follow what He tells you, it will be amazing. God bless you and your family!

I'm so thrilled to hear that you're writing and producing music again! Although, you have been missed, It sounds like the past ten years God had you right were He wanted you - getting much needed rest and providing restoration in places of your soul that needed touching. Ironically, when you were producing music many years ago, it was a time in my life when God was providing me with much needed rest and much needed healing for my broken spirit. Thank you for writing and singing the music that God put upon your heart - your music ministried to me in ways that allowed me to move beyond the darkest place in my life. I'm excited to hear about the next leg of your journey. smilies/cheesy.gif

Cindy, I'm so excited about the new cd. I have always loved your lyrics and music, blended with your voice. You make the emotions come alive to convey the mystery of God's gift of music. It amazes me that singing words is so different than speaking, how it draws you in deeper to what someone is trying to convey. Always keep writing and singing. It's a talent you have to share. Ok, I'm done being dramatic.
