God is good. I think I have mentioned before that I attend a small church in the town we live in. This morning in church when the time came for prayer requests, there were so many people struggling through hard times. Lots of praises for good news as well but the weight of people’s struggle could almost be felt on all our shoulders. I was sitting there in the choir loft thinking of the scripture found in Philippians 1:4-6. Paul writes “In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it onto completion until the day of Jesus Christ”. There is no denying that we will walk through difficult things in our life. The real question is how we will choose to deal with it. In Joyce Meyers ‘Battlefield of the Mind’ she says” thoughts are powerful, and according the writer of Proverbs, they have creative ability. If our thoughts are going to affect what we become, then it certainly should be a priority that we think right thoughts” As we walk through life and through hard times , we must think and walk in the expectancy that good things will come, that God will not fail us. That He loves us and will be there for us in every step. What is certain is that God has a plan for our lives. My struggle has always been fearing the worst, losing control. Trusting. That is my struggle. What else is certain? That the devil has whispered lies in my ear for years. “ Bad things will happen, nothing will ever work out for you” Have you ever heard those lies? It has to be a constant choice on our part to believe the truth that God has spoken to us in his Word rather than the lies that the devil whispers. We must speak to ourselves the promises of God, until the whispers are overpowered. Make no mistake, if we speak the truth of the Word, the lies will be silenced. Remember that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Jesus Christ. Matthew 6:31
Keep pressing on, fighting the good fight.

Hey Cindy,
"Trusting. That is my struggle." Yes, sometimes fears and negative thoughts can be so powerful that they block us almost completely. We feel like caught in a trap. Over the last years I struggled with that feeling again and again. Sometimes then reading my bible in the morning His words didn't really come through to me. So I just started the day doing what had to be done, asking Him to carry me through somehow. And He did! He always did! Life is not easy, the next battle around the corner. But I don't want to stop thanking Him for every day, the good ones and the not so good ones. It's a fight, but we can win it with Him again and again and again! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with us and for reminding us of this encouraging message that: "God is good!" and that: "He who began a good work in us will carry it onto completion until the day of Jesus Christ." I often feel the same..I like what you have written here we need to keep pressing on and believing in God's promises. Life won't always go the way we want it to, but He will always give us what we need.

Wow, I needed that post today, Cindy. Thanks. I have read Myer's book The Battlefield of the Mind, and it was eye opening to how I allow my thoughts to bend my focus on the negative. That's why I love the Psalms (and God's Word in general.)
You reminded me with this that I need to really dig into the Word while I am in this new "hard time" that has recently begun. God IS good, God is good. 4 report abuse
